Black Fly attacks! In wilts/glos borders 4 weeks ago the first of my horses started to show allergic reaction symptoms to something unidentified. she was an elderly horse and after 3 weeks extensive testing by vets which showed she was in good health, she died. 1 week ago 2 other horses started to show swelling reactions around abdominal region and top of hind limbs. Again tests showed good health. Treated with steroids and antibiotics, and extensive fly spraying they have recovered. Tonight late with the fly spray and black flies found in groins feeding managed to catch one and definitely black fly. their pasture is near a free flowing river. Have you heard of violent reactions like this in the uk before? Any advice on treatment, repellent etc would be greatly appreciated! kerryl.clampton@virgin.net 2012-06-09 21:54:21
